Sadly a few people I have respect for are defending Russel Brand.
If you are, please rethink. They are claiming 25yrs ago things were different, but I am sorry, no meant no then too.
They also seemingly, believe that prison is just about rehabilitation, but this is not the case, prison is also about deterrent and safety for everyone else.
Then they claim he has rehabilitated himself, but sadly after years of working to protect people from abusers, it is my informed opinion Brand is very much the classic sociopath. His actions were not about promiscuity but about power, a drive, a need, to instil his will on others, as are really all sexual offences and abusive behaviours.
Sociopaths cannot be cured, nor rehabilitated, they can by choice change their focus, look for different targets, even for a time sate their need to control others in different ways, but not through remorse or admission of guilt. That change of focus may mean their behaviours change but not their capacity for abuse.
Brand may have believed he did no wrong, and to be honest, despite any feigned conscience he himself will in reality believe he aided and benefitted these women he attacked, raped and abused.
Brand has not become less of a threat, if anything now he is more so. He has had time to consider how to ensure he will not ever again be vulnerable, to, what he sees as society’s misjudgement. Any abuse he commits now, will have his own protection, from his view of being wronged by society, ensured.
This very real and dangerous, vile predator, needs prison for a very long time, he will never be safe in society.
Please do not be fooled by his charm and charisma, some of the absolute worst dreggs of society that I encountered whilst protecting children and their families, were the most charismatic people I have ever met, to the point, that if you knew nothing about them, you would want to befriend them.
The people defending him sadly have shown, that in this case they have no true understanding of how, not having a conscience, of seeing rules there to protect the vulnerable, as simply a guidance for others not yourself, a belief in always being right, makes a true sociopath see themselves as a demi god, and for Brand his fame and looks added to that. If you are in any doubt watch the program the BBC let Jonathan King make once he was found out, or even Saville’s very public outing by Louis Theroux, Listen to how King saw himself, Glitter and Saville. Prepare to be chilled by how Saville saw his actions with children. They are likely on YouTube.
A Criminal sociopath is the closest you likely will come to true evil in this world.
