Destruction of greenbelt for immigration?

We are told to believe all these new housing estates are for migrants. Its the same rhetoric spouted by the right wing and the government daily. We are fed this to divide us further, because whilst we hate the vulnerable we accept those truly at fault.
The houses being built upon all the green land are in reality for people who can afford the mortgages and these predominately are more wealthy people, anyone buying on “farmland” estates will be paying a starting price of over £250,000, and usually much more. Yet folk believe it to be “immigrants being given houses when they cross the channel”. The people coming across risking their lives in decrepit unsuitable and overcrowded boats generally have bugger all. They get nothing from the state, unless they have a watertight reason to remain such as true refugees or British Commonwealth citizens.
The people you are told by the press are living in hotels are actually either those with a legal valid reason to be here, or are here with work visas, therefore economic migrants with jobs.
There have been 12,315 people according to the BBC coming into the country this year, (upto the 18th of June. Last year for the entire year 29,500, but that’s a huge drop from normal figures which have been as high as 45,700 in 2018.
They sound huge numbers don’t they? But we live in a country of around 67,955,000 according to the UN figures, so the numbers come out at slightly over .04% of the UK population, and even then the vast majority are returned to their country of origin.
However, 663,000 people earn six figure wages in the UK, 2.1million people reported having at least one second home last year in Britain, many of them with more than one additional house, and these homes are not to rent out. That’s almost 4% (a hundred times more than all the channel crossing immigrants) of our population.
So just why is our countryside being destroyed by building upon it? Just who are the real problem?
See how easy it is to blame the vulnerable? That’s how fascism really works.

Stupidity of extremism for dummies

Very dependent on who you believe yourself to be, imagine you were by accident of birth, actually born, in a different culture, one that was dominated by Christian belief, Islamic belief, Buddhist belief, Hindu Belief, Judaism belief, or any other religion, or you were a different colour, gender, sexuality or ability to your current one, would you despise yourself more than you already do? Should you see yourself as immoral, dirty, unclean, unintelligent, unfeeling, unworthy or non deserving of freedom or life? Because that’s what discrimination and extremism truly are, It’s that simple, and stupid.
There are amazing people in every walk of life, as well as vile almost inhuman ones. Do I judge you by the clothes you wear, your weight, height, completion or hair colour, do I condemn you because someone else with blue eyes or a size 34 waist committed a crime? No because that would be pathetic….wouldn’t it?

D-day

71yrs ago today a huge number of very scared men (and a number of women) went into the most important battle of recent history.
These fathers, brothers, friends and sons travelled across the English channel to be met not by some officious customs officer but by lead, fire, pain, injury and death.
This day was the first day of a very long journey of pain, suffering and loss.
Many families were decimated by these events and all touched by it.
These soldiers of all allied and commonwealth nations, all religions and all cultures fought and died on that day and those that followed.
Christian, Hindu, Jew or Muslim it did not matter, they lived and died together as brothers fighting the same evil, fighting to give us, their children, and grand children a future of freedom, rights and justice.
Please think back to what it was like for them facing almost certain death by the most horrible ways imaginable. Reflect upon it. Allow yourself to feel a fraction of their fear, terror, pain and nothingness.
Their willingness to give up their own futures to ensure a good one for us.
Understand that they did this out of duty, out of morality but also most of all out of hope.
Do not sully their memory with hate. Do not let their memory be tarnished by the very things they fought for. Our freedoms, our rights, our future.
Do not allow others to steal our rights or tell us our fellow brothers, sisters, humans deserve theirs to be taken.
Those that use these memories to promote hate absolute disrespect the memory of those we should be most proud of.

I remember them, this and every day. I respect what they did and love them for it.

Jonesy.
